Social work
Madhumeh Sewa Sangh
A charitable trust working on the prevention, awareness and treatment of lifestyle disease — diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and heart disease — since 1995.
Why it exists
Treatment reaches those who come. Awareness has to go to them.
A clinic can only help the people who walk through its door. Most of the diabetes in a district is in people who have not been diagnosed, or who were diagnosed and then left alone with it — and no amount of equipment inside one building reaches them.
Madhumeh Sewa Sangh was registered in 1995 to do that outside work: to clear away the darkness of despair, ignorance and misunderstanding in the lives of people with diabetes, as its founding aim puts it, and to light those lives up again.
Every educational programme the Sangh runs is free. Educational material — books, CDs and the rest — is provided at minimal cost.

The work
Fourteen ways
it reaches people.
Camps, radio, television, a telephone line, films, a club and a yearly gathering of thousands — all of it aimed at people who are not in the consulting room.
Detection, awareness and treatment camps
Pre-planned camps in remote places, to correct wrong ideas about diabetes and adjust treatment for people already diagnosed. Held across most talukas of Nanded, Parbhani, Latur, Hingoli, Washim, Yavatmal, Adilabad and Nizamabad.
मधुमेही आणि नातेवाईकांचा महामेळावा
